New Quilt Unveiled

I sewed on two yarns for an edge to the monk, rock, sun/moon quilt late last night. I think I have some things that need touched up. I may need to outline the flag with a darker thread, I may need to change the shape of the shadow of the rock cairn (I don't like the shape now), and my physicist husband says the shadow of the monk is at the wrong angle (but I like the way it looks now).  Plus I need a name for the quilt. But here is a photo of how it is now. As you see, I cut off the left side of the quilt, added some mountains, added embroidery, blended areas of the sky, added fabric to the bottom, and other things that I presently am forgetting.
Unnamed
Can you help me name this quilt?
For my next post, I'll show a photo of it all fixed up and links to the past posts showing all the steps of making it. I'm linking this to Off The Wall Friday where you can see other art quilt blogs. Please comment on their posts so that they know you visited.

  1. A wonderful quilt. It just gets better every time I see it. A name, hmmmmm. Well the word peace and solitude come to my mind first when I see this piece. With all the crap going on in Syria, maybe find out how to say or spell the word peace in whatever language is spoken there? Just a thought

    1. Thanks. Peace and solitude were feelings that lead me as I created it.

    1. Thank you for your compliment. Tranquility is one of the moods I'd like to capture in my body of work.

  3. Tell you husband you have used artistic interpretation to define the area of shadow. I think your hand stitched shadows are more effective than if you had used a darker shade of the fabric that the shadow falls on.

My first title thought - Contemplation

    1. At first, I told him an artist can take artistic liberties. but unfortunately, I have a science background too, and that mistake will bother will me unless I fix it so I will have to rip it out and redo it. I need a class in drawing. Alas, not enough time in a day.

    1. Yes, "Contemplation" will be the name. The monk is admiring the rock cairn and how it fits into the Universe.

  5. Hi! Thanks for the comment on my blog. I see we are both in search of a title for recently completed work. So ... I'll vote with "Contemplation" for yours! It is a lovely, serene piece.
    Thanks!

    1. "Contemplation" keeps coming up as a suggestion and a awhile ago I wrote a small essay about this quilt and I used "contemplation" when referring to the monk. So I think that will be the name.
