Another Quilt Done

I finished my quilt for the entry to Florida in Fabric and will mail the CD tomorrow. I don't want to post the photo of the whole quilt until I hear if it is accepted or not but I'll post the detail shot I submitted.
Detail of Beach Walk
I was just about finished with the quilt. I had the pillowcase back on, had the quilting done, and realized that the focal point was too big and I didn't like the quilt! I liked it the day before. I took it to my two artist friends that I sketch with and they had a very simple solution. I'll blog about it soon. Needless to say I like my quilt again. I love learning about art concepts and I'll pass on what I found out.
I'm linking this to Off The Wall Friday where you can visit other art quilt blogs. Please make comments on their posts to let the artists know you stopped by.

    1. I love looking at bold, highly saturated pieces of other art quilters. I was going to make a bright, tropical scene for this entry of a palm tree and a bicycle but once I started touching my more muted monoprinted fabrics, I was in a trance. :)

    1. I love making art; But I have to push myself to enter it. I wish I was rich and had a butler to take all my finished works and enter them for me. Wouldn't that be nice? Then I wouldn't even be aware of deadlines and notices of rejections (only acceptances).

    1. Done with gelatin monoprinting. I love that process.

  6. Looking forward to hearing about how you fixed what you didn't like. I think part of the fun and challenge of doing art quilts is figuring out how to fix the things that we don't like. Most of us are to stubborn to give up on it :-)

  8. I chuckle as I tell you that I sent a quilt to a show halfway across the world, and by the time it got back, I'd taken a design class and figured out what I didn't really like about it. So I took it apart last week and plan to rework it this week. I look forward to reading more about your adventures of construction then deconstruction then construction.

  9. Sometimes when you get so involved in the work, you can't see the forest for the trees. Then all of a sudden you see it and can't understand how you could've missed such an obvious thing.

    1. Thanks, Cheryl. By the way...I read your book, Fabric Surface Design, cover to cover. Fantastic! So much detail and some of my favorite artists are in there.
